Stefan Marjoram
I haven't got a clue about gamut, printer profiles, CMYK... it's all stupid stuff I don't want to think about. Thankfully Jake and the team know how to take my confusingly named files and turn them into high quality prints that look just like I imagined them. They're even nice to me when I go to collect them. I couldn't ask for more."

How to make the best Giclée prints

For the ultimate print quality we recommend bringing your artwork in for us to capture digitally, however if that's not an option then see below for some top tips on getting the best image of your artwork.

Ordering your print

Start with a good image of your work

A professionally captured image will generally be the best (see our scanning service below) but if you have a decent Digital camera then you can still achieve professional results. Follow these simple steps to take the best photo possible:

  • Take your photo in good light, daylight is best but not in direct sunlight.
  • Make sure the light is even so that there are no shadows over your work.
  • Use a tripod if available (it will keep your image sharp).
  • Use a timer setting on your camera to avoid 'camera shake'.
  • Position your camera as squarely as possible to your artwork to avoid distortion.

Check your image file sizing before uploading

Before uploading to our online print designer make sure that:

  • You have jpeg files ready.
  • Your image file is large enough, around 5-10MB is a good size to aim at for prints up to A3.
  • For larger prints it's a good idea to use as large a file as possible, our print uploader will take files up to 20MB.
